Deserving Win to Only Tiger

The stable headed north to Wyong today with only the one runner, our consistent and very honest 4yr old stayer Only Tiger (Rip Van Winkle x  Sitting On A Hill) to contest the 3rd race of the day, the Class 1 & Maiden over 2100m.

Trainers would love a stable full of horses like Only Tiger, he is a horse that tries his hardest every time he steps onto the track. Some say that the number 13 is unlucky however for Only Tiger it was very lucky for him. Lining up today for his 13th start, Only Tiger jumped as the $2.30 favourite and front the wide gate went forward sitting 3 wide before finding the eventual lead. Jockey Tim Clark was able to settle the consistent stayer and turning for home opted to take Only Tiger away from the fence, the challenges came but our boy dug deep and brought out his inner tiger instincts to fight back and score his second victory.

After the race John pleased with the efforts states “very good staying effort by the horse on a heavy track. He is now race fit and we might look to back him up at Warwick Farm on Wednesday over the 2110m. As he continues to mature, he will get up to city cup status.”

Today’s win now takes Only Tigers record to 13 starts for 2 wins, 2 seconds and 5 thirds with a few occasions of only just missing the placings.
