Only Tiger Strikes Twice

Racing can be a tough game and asking a 4 year old to back up within a week some may view as a tough ask. Consistent stable stayer, Only Tiger was given this task yesterday (13th June 2018) at Warwick Farm a mere 6 days after his dominant last start win at Wyong over the 2100m. Stepping up to the unusual distance of 2110m and mid week city racing at Warwick Farm, the track also presented to be a Heavy 8 (the same as his last start win). In between runs Only Tiger had been impressing Sarge with his work and had shown that he had handled the heavy going which led to the decision to back him up on Wednesday.

Partnered again with jockey Tim Clark, Only Tiger was sent out as a $5 chance and when the gates opened jumped evenly with the field. After settling Only Tiger found himself 3 wide before finding the rail and settling in just behind the leading pair. A 1000m out from the finish post and Only Tiger begins to pounce edging closer to the lead ensuring not to let them get too far away from him, at the 600m our boy has found the front as the pace begins to heat up with Jockey’s making their moves. Onto the straight and Tiger kicks away from the wall of horses chasing, with not much making any ground from the back of the field, Only Tiger found the line nicely to notch up his third career win and proved that backing up was no problem at all.

After the race, when interviewed John states “the horse has found some really good form and handled the ground well. Will make a nice city class cups horse over the distances.” This morning Only Tiger has come through the runs well and now John looks toward the future to find him the next task.

Congratulations to all the connections involved with Only Tiger on another great win!
