Tyrrhenian Makes His Debut

Our cheeky chestnut 2 year old Ocean Park gelding TYRRHENIAN (out of Italian Princess) makes his race debut today at Gosford in the 5th race with Rachel King taking the reins.

Tyrrhenian was a purchase from the Ready to Run Sale 2017 in Karaka making the journey over form New Zealand and into the stables at Randwick. In his first preparation for John the cheeky giant chestnut was trailed in March where he finished in 5th behind quality Godolphin youngster Roosevelt before heading out for a long spell to allow the young horse to grow more.  Returning a Gelding in the middle of the year, Tyrrhenian has had two official barrier trials finishing 3rd and 2nd showing John that the young Ocean Park boy is ready to head to the races for his ownership group that includes Segenhoe Stud.

John comments “he will need the run for fitness but should be coming home strongly”.

We wish all the connections the very best, Tyrrhenian was even asked if ready to head to the races

Also set to go around at Gosford today in the 3rd race is 4yr old Smart Missile Mare- Golden Lily also to be ridden by Rachel King.  Golden Lily kicked off her latest preparation at the end of July at Kembla where she finished down the track. Today she will step back up to the mile (1600m) and from her wide draw will be getting back in the run but should be coming home strongly.

We wish the connections of Golden Lily all the best with her run as well.
