Tomorrow Tuesday 4th September the racing in New South Wales heads to one of the best provincial tracks in the state- Newcastle. The JSR team will send up the one runner which is none other than promising 3yr old gelding Home Ground (High Chaparral x First Look), who in his last preparation ran a very gallant 5th behind The Autumn Sun in the Group 1 JJ Atkins over 1400m during the Brisbane Winter Carnival.
Since returning to the stable to kick off his Spring campaign, Home Ground has stepped out in two official barrier trials finishing toward the rear in both but still finding the line nicely in both occasions.
Home Ground will step out in the 4th race of the day- Alfabs Class 2 Handicap- Heat Of The Rising Star over the 1400m with promising apprentice Brock Ryan taking the reins. The distance is short of his best however should be running on late. Resuming tomorrow will provide John and the connections with an indication of how on track the horse is for the mapped out spring campaign which will see the young horse targeted toward some Group races over the Flemington carnival in November.
