Maiden No More

The team headed north to Wyong yesterday with 3 runners, having two of them tipped by Ray Hickson as dangers in their respective races- he was not wrong!

In the first race we lined up 4 year old Smart Missile mare IKARA MISS who was having her 5th career start, 2nd for her current preparation. Jumping cleanly from the gates, jockey Glyn Schofield settled the mare toward the rear of the field and gave her a patient ride.  Given a squeeze at the 600m, the mare started to loop around the outside of the field.

On the running in the straight, Schofield was able to have the mare maintain her tempo to run down the favourite and score victory with her ears pricked.

John was very happy with the run and she looks to be a horse that will look to get over more ground in her next start, she also recorded the first of a winning double for sire Smart Missile.

Ladies’ Gem also put in another good run to almost cause an upset in his race, being beaten in the shadows of the post by the 2018 Bong Bong Cup winner- Zepplin. He will now head for a well earned break.
