Filly gets a Royal Name

Owning racehorses can be a very thrilling time of your life. One of the fun parts of owning racehorses is putting on your creative thinking hat and giving your horse its race name.

There are many varying methods that people follow to name their horses, more commonly people will look to a mash up of the Sire (father) and the Dam (mother) to come up with a name, while others may look further back into the family tree to come up with something unique. Other methods include looking at foreign words that have a meaningful translation in English, then you get the comedians that name their horse something funny to scream out when cheering on their horse.

Our Hallowed Crown x Midnight Moment filly who joined the stables late last year and owned by great supporters of the stable Lime Country Thoroughbreds has finally received her race name, it is a very royal one to- HALO SCROLL.

For those who are intrigued as to how this name came about, simply take your mind back to the 29th April 2011, when the “commoner” Kate Middleton stepped out of the Royals Royce at Westminster Abbey ready to marry Prince William. As always with royal weddings, speculation around the dress flow and of course if the Queen will loan one of her famous tiaras. Well in Kate’s case she did, the Halo Scroll Tiara and this is the namesake to this filly.

Hallowed Crown raced at the elite level in his short career winning 6 of his 9 starts. The young colt’s most infamous win was when he stepped out in the Group 1 De Bortoli Golden Rose stakes at just his 4th career start. Trained by the Master Bart Cummings and his son James, Hallowed Crown now carries out stallion duties at Darley.

We wish Lime Country Thoroughbreds all the success with this regally named filly and hope that with our very own master she will be in the winners circle, taking out some nice trophies that match the sparkle of her namesake.
