On Track to Australian Oaks

The stable had the one runner yesterday at Hawkesbury and we return with a 100% strike rate for the day with New Zealand filly House Of Cartier taking out Race 7 on the card.

Having made the trip across earlier in the month, House Of Cartier first stepped out in the Group 3 Kembla Classic in the middle of the month, placing 6th as an unfancied chance. Impressing John with her work at home, the plans were made to step her up in distance. Starting as the short price favourite and over 2000m, House Of Cartier was given a good ride by senior jockey Brenton Avdulla.

After jumping from the gates, the filly settled toward the rear of the field before beginning her move on the outside at the 600m marker. Turning for home and the filly grinded away at the distance between the leader, scoring victory by just over a length.

With the grand final for her being the Australian Oaks on Day 2 of the Championships (April 13th), connections will now pay the late fee and head toward Oaks glory- something that John is very familiar with having won the 2013 Crown Oaks with another Kiwi filly in Kirramosa (who also wore the same colours as House Of Cartier).

Congratulations to connections and the staff who look after the horses.
