Lady Grande Returns to Races

With no runners in the city on Saturday, the team’s focus will turn to Newcastle as we send one runner up the highway to go represent the stable.

Race 5 Leah Jay Maiden Handicap over 1400m will see the return of Kiwi mare LADY GRANDE make her return to the races with Chad Lever in the saddle. Since arriving in the stable in December of last year the mare by Mastercraftsman showed potential when she stepped out in her first trial in January and won with Jay Ford in the saddle.

She made her race debut at Taree in February over the 1400m when she finished an impressive 3rd behind talented Kim Waugh trained Equiseta. 18 Days later and she ran another promising 3rd at Wyong also over the 1600m. She was given another run over the mile where she finished toward the rear of the field before running 2nd behind Diamond Star Halo at Gosford in April.

After a strong performance the mare was sent out to have a well deserved spell. Since her return to the stable she has stepped out in two barrier trials, finishing down the field in the first and then finishing 2nd in her most recent- now showing she is ready to return to the races and look to score her first win on the board. Lady Grande has had 4 starts for 3 minor placings.

Good Luck to connections associated with the horse.
