The auctioneer gavels are being polished, young horses are being prepared all in readiness for the annual Thoroughbred Sales that occur in many complexes in Asia Pacific. The various sales being a mecca for the who’s who in the racing industry, hoping to snap up the next big superstar as they step into the ring.
Currently the state of the art facilities at Inglis’ Riverside Stables complex in Warwick Farm is progressing through a catalogue from many vendors with their Ready to Run 2 year olds hoping to get them into some of the top stables around the country.
Karaka in New Zealand will very shortly get their turn to host their annual Ready to Run sales next Month when over 400 2 year olds will step into the ring with many eyes on them looking for the next star that we all talk about.
A sale that John has much success in finding a good horse or two from, including past stable star ESTEBAN (Encosta De Lago x Nadege) who recording four consecutive wins back in 2016, stamping himself as a potential Melbourne Cup runner for the team before unfortunately injury ended his career.
Another horse that John has found within the same sale is current stable star LUVALUVA (Mastercraftsman x Wansesingyee). A $35,000 purchase at the sales has gone on to win over $600,000 in prize money for connections. Her most impressive win was in the Group 2 Wakeful Stakes in 2017 before then finishing 4th in the Oaks only 5 days later. Luvaluva has also recorded wins at Group 2 and 3 level. Her current preparation is seeing her being aimed at the $1 million dollar “The Gong”at Kembla racecourse on the 23rd November. She is also currently nominated for the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic over the 1800m for $1 million in prize money over the Perth Cup Carnival.
