Stable Rose Blooms at Kensington

Mid-week racing was hosted on the Kensington track at Royal Randwick and the racing certainly didn’t disappoint. The stable saddled up a small team to represent.

Race 3 – 1st Crop Magna Grecia Foals Maiden Plate over 1100m for 3 year olds saw the team have a strong hand with 3 fillies taking their place including the race favourite MAYROSE.

First seen at the trials in May where she finished 4th in a field of six before then coming out and winning her next trial at the end of July, she had shown readiness to head to the races. Her racing career kicked off at Goulburn at the start of August where she was sent out as favourite however her inexperience got the better of her and she raced greenly throughout, managing to finish a very promising 2nd with Alysha Collett in the saddle.

At her next start she returned to Goulburn as a result of the Kembla meeting being moved, she stepped out as favourite again she jumped cleanly and travelled nicely through the run but was unable to pull back the margin from the front running Flower Moon, recording another 2nd from as many starts next to her name.

Following from that run, her work had been impressive and John felt that yesterday’s race was a perfect opportunity for the filly by Pride Of Dubai to record a metropolitan win next to her name. Again sent out the favourite, she settled well for Jason Collett and when asked to quicken immediately went through her gears to run down the leader breaking the maiden by just under a length. The younger half sister to Dubbo cup winner Aesop’s Fable and The Drake, has come through the run well and will now head to the paddock to enjoy a well-earned break.

Looking ahead to the other stable runners over the coming days, talented filly FOUR MOVES AHEAD continues to impress in her work since her last run in the Group 2 Furious Stakes when finishing 3rd behind Jamaea. She will have to overcome barrier 10 but Nash Rawiller who knows the horse will be back aboard and will look to ride her in a more positive position. From her last run and her recent work, she should be hard to beat on Saturday in the Tea Rose Stakes.
