With the racing action heating up on the track, so has the stables form with three winners in just two days.
Friday night racing was hosted by Canterbury park where we sent two runners and it was the promising Pride Of Dubai filly MAYROSE that kicked off the winning weekend for the stable. Given a well judged ride by Jason Collett, the 3 year old chestnut was able to find clear running turning for home and made advantage of this by showing her explosive turn of foot to storm down the outside, recording her second win in just 5 starts at nice odds for punters.
The second winner of the weekend was recorded at racing headquarters (Royal Randwick) when Dissident gelding OUTLANDOS outstayed his rivals over 2400m with Hugh Bowman in the saddle. Following on from his impressive run on Magic Millions race day when finishing 2nd the gelding showed he can come back in just as good form and also proved that he can stay the distance.
It wasn’t long before the JSR team were cheering once again when flashy 3yr chestnut filly GIN MARTINI recorded back to back victories when taking out Race 6 at Newcastle with Jeff Penza recording another win for the partnership. Jumping nicely from the gates, Gin Martini found the front before drifting back to sit just off the leaders. With the nice run behind the leaders, Penza was able to get the filly to peel off as the field began to turn for home which allowed for clear running. Coming down the outside fence the Rip Van Winkle filly was able to grind through her gears to record her second career win and to show that she is on track for a big campaign which includes a nomination for the Australian Oaks on Day 2 of The Championships on the 9th April.
Congratulations to all the connections associated with the winners over the weekend, let’s hope the winners can continue today at Scone with our three runners who have headed up North.
