3 year old Maurice filly HEALTHY BEAUTY cemented herself as one to watch as she continues to progress through the grades when she scored back to back wins in dominant fashion at Goulburn on Friday by over 5 lengths with Robbie Dolan in the saddle.
First seen in November 2020 at the trials before making her racing debut in the 2 year old Wyong Magic Millions race where she finished down the field, she was then sent for a spell to give her time to mature and grow. Upon resuming her racing she put in a good performance at Goulburn over 1200m where she finished 2nd. With another two runs in that preparation she was still unable to shake the maiden status and was sent out for another spell and arrived back in the stables early December of last year.
The half sister to Holy Sunday who was also trained by John and was exported to Hong Kong, resumed her current preparation with two barrier trials – winning the latest outing at Randwick in early February. First up John sent the promising filly down to Canberra over the 1300m with Robbie Dolan wanting to head down to have just the one ride as he was impressed with her work in the trial. Healthy Beauty made the trip worth while when she won impressively by just under 4 lengths.
Having come through the run well and her work had been good showing that she has taken much needed confidence from the win, John then sent the filly back to Goulburn and this time over the mile (1600m). Jumping cleanly from the gates, she settled mid-field and was able to get a nice run behind the leaders. With 600m to go, Dolan was able to begin to tack onto the back of the leading bunch and have the filly out wide to ensure clear running at the crucial stages. Utilising the clear running well, Healthy Beauty was able to grind through her gears and wear down the leaders to win in a dominant manner.
She has come through the run well and will now get her chance at some valuable black type next start when she steps up in grade when lining up in the Group 3 Adrian Knox Stakes over 2000m on Day 1 of The Championships (2nd April) at Royal Randwick with Robbie booked for the ride.
