While winter is upon us and for many who are wrapped up in blankets or with the heater on in the wee hours of the morning, race tracks around the country are a buzz with the hardworking individuals that keep the racing industry going. Our “normal hours” for some start at 3:30am and will go through until 9am in the morning, which is when the 9-5 people are possibly having their morning coffee.
On a nice Winter’s morning (which you can forgive for believing we are not in winter) at Randwick, John was working two of the stables youngsters ahead of their Spring Carnival Campaigns. Our stable is one that has quite a number of rising 3 year olds (currently 2 but on 1st of August the age will clock over for racing purposes), this morning Home Win (Snitzel x Flidais – the full brother to the Team Hawkes trained SHOWTIME) and All Things (So You Think x Popcorn Charley) were having a gallop this morning and impressed Sarge with their work.
The plans for these two youngsters is to target them toward the major staying races over the Spring Carnivals.
