Another Winning Double for Stable

The team continues to fly with two runners scoring our second winning double in consecutive weekends.

Looking for back to back Group 3 wins was the in form mare LUVALUVA. Coming off a win on Boxing Day when she took out the Summer Cup over 2000m with Koby Jennings in the saddle, looking to add to her pedigree page again over the same distance in the January Cup.

Jumping and settling toward the rear of the field, along the back straight the tempo slowed which allowed her to edge closer to the leaders to be within striking distance when turning for home. 600m left to run and they pair are sitting in 3rd on the back of the leaders. Into the run for home and at the 400m metre Luvaluva runs up to the tiring leader to take race honours by a length.

The mare has come through the run well and now John looks to send her back to New Zealand to have a chance at the Group 1 Herbie Dyke Stakes on the 8th February at Te Rapa. Luvaluva was a $55,000 purchase from the Karaka Ready to Run sales in 2016 and has now won 6 of her 28 starts, banking a total of over $800,000 in prizemoney for connections.

While the celebrations were still going, the team’s focus then turned to Kembla Grange where we also had runners representing the stable. After a barrier mishap earlier in his preparation, So You Think gelding GET THE IDEA had trialled before the stewards, getting a pass to return to the races was lining up for his first start in Race 3 over 1300m.

Being very well behaved in the gates, the gelding settled mid-field behind the leaders in a nice position on the rails. Turning for home, it looked as if Get The Idea was behind a wall of horses and needing a gap to appear to give him the chance to contest the race, around 200m out from home and a gap opened up – Lee Magorrian encouraging the horse to take advantage of the gap and once into clear running was able to run on strongly to break his maiden at start number 1 in a photo finish and at juicy odds of $61.

Congratulations to connections associated with Get The Idea. The horse has come through the run well and now John will look through the diary to find another race that will suit.

Congratulations must go to the entire team who put a lot of care into the horses and get them to the races in top condition, contributing to the current hot streak of success for the stable.
