Group 1 Runner for Team on Big Day in Sydney

Group racing continues at Royal Randwick this weekend as the excitement toward the richest race on turf The Everest is upon us next weekend. Randwick will host a 9 race card meeting with the feature being the Group 1 Moet & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes over 2000m.

For a small stable that has only 40 horses in work it is a great effort by the entire team to have 4 runners representing the stable on one of the biggest days in the Sydney Carnival.

Race 4 – Tresemme Handicap over the staying trip of 2000m will see the promising stayer GET THE IDEA who has won 4 of his 7 starts in the provincial tracks get a chance at Saturday grade racing. Top jockey Tommy Berry will jump aboard.

Get The Idea

The feature race of the day Race 7 – Moet & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes over the staying trip of 2000m will see the 3 year old FAVREAU (Tavistock/Lady Kipling) take his place in the Group 1. The up and coming stayer showed his ability two starts ago when flashing home at Kembla to finish 3rd, which then resulted in him taking his place in the Gloaming stakes last start. A good solid performance saw the gelding charge down the outside to run 4th. This assignment will see him thrown in the deep end but from the draw will look to find a handy position to give him the chance to let down and could again feature in the finish. Sam Clipperton who knows the horse well will ride him again.

In the 8th of the day the Group 3 Bentley Angst Stakes, John will saddle up two runners. The first being the talented Sebring mare, EMERALDS who will start as one of the favourites on the back of a positive performance in the Group 2 Golden Pendant last start when finishing 2nd behind Subpoenad. She goes into this race fit and well, should be hard to beat. Jason Collett who rode in the Golden Pendant retains the ride.

Emeralds

The other mare is the former kiwi HOUSE OF CARTIER who is now getting out to her best distance and will carry the light weight of 54 kilos which will give her a chance to show her ability. House Of Cartier will be ridden by Sam Clipperton.

House Of Cartier

No doubt a big day for the team and a huge congratulations again to the team who work very hard every day to have the horses in peak condition to perform their best on the day.

Good Luck to all connections associated with all runners on Saturday.
