The racing focus for the weekend will be on the provincial track of Hawkesbury when they host their annual stand alone Gold Cup Meeting. With COVID restrictions easing, it is expected that the club will have a large crowd in attendance to enjoy the 9 races on the card along with other festivities.
The team will send just the one runner to Hawkesbury to represent the team, promising and black type filly ELIZABEEL (Power x Now And Again) will be looking to add more black type to her pedigree when stepping out in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Guineas.
Early on in her career she has shown ability and potential for what the future may hold, when at just her 3rd start she ran 3rd behind Peltzer (winner of just over $1million in prizemoney). Breaking the maiden status at start number 5, she put in a dominant performance at Wyong in August last year and then backed it up when victorious at Hawkesbury in September. In her current preparation she has had 5 starts and while a win eludes her she has placed 3 times at Group level, adding valuable black type to her pedigree.
Last start saw Elizabeel go around in the Group 3 James Carr Stakes over the 1400m at Randwick where she was only run down in the last few strides of the race. She has come through the run well and continued to impress John with her work, confident that she will back up well as last time she was given the task she ran 4th in the $1 million Bondi Stakes on a heavy track. This time around the Hawkesbury track should suit her and she has won on the track, drawn to get a good run she should be right in the finish.
Robbie Dolan who has had a lot do with the filly from day 1 takes the ride and will be hoping to continue his good association with her.
Good Luck to her connections.
