A small team of only 3 runners will head to the Rosehill Barrier Trials on Monday as the Sydney Autumn Racing carnival edges closer which will see the top equine athletes battle it out on the turf to add their names to the history books next to some of Sydney’s and the nations iconic races such as the Golden Slipper for 2 year olds now worth $5 million in prizemoney.
Heat 2 – Group Trial 900m (Course Proper)
The first of the team to step out is the black type filly FOUR MOVES AHEAD. This is the second trial for the daughter of Snitzel who last time out put in a good piece of work when flashing from the back of the field to win her first trial over the 780m on the polytrack at Randwick on the 13th. Monday’s hitout will see her reunited with Nash Rawiller who rode the flashy filly to victory in the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes back in September last year. Four Moves Ahead will kick off her Autumn campaign in the Group 2 TAB Light Fingers Stakes on the 12th February at Randwick.
Heat 6 – Open Trial 1030m
The second of the team stepping out at the trials also on a Group 1 path is the promising young stayer in the making by So You Think – SATIRICAL GLORY. In his first preparation the gelding knocked off the maiden status at start number 3 when winning at Scone over 1600m before then having his opportunity at Saturday grade Group racing at Randwick when he ran an impressive 4th in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes behind Profondo. Satirical Glory has also had the one barrier trial earlier in the month at Randwick and the hit out on Monday will get him ready to kick off his Autumn campaign as he is on the path to run in the Group 1 Australian Derby on the 2nd April.
Heat 9 – 2yo Fillies Open Trial 900m
The last of the team to have a hit out is the yet to debut filly by Show A Heart – SPIRITCHASER. This will be the second trial for the filly who in her first outing impressed when finding the front and winning her heat over 600m. A slight step up in distance this trial will top her off nicely to make her racing debut in the coming months.
