The Sydney Autumn Carnival has blessed racing fans with some quality racing over the past few weeks at Rosehill, especially with the Shelby Sixty Six fairytale continuing last weekend on Golden Slipper Day. This coming Saturday promises to deliver another 10 races of quality action on the track for the final day at Rosehill before the carnival returns to Royal Randwick for The Championships.
The team will saddle up four runners on Saturday who are looking to perform well in their respective races to continue on with their campaigns, all that have big targets planned.
Race 2 – Schweppervescence over 1400m for the two year olds sees the promising Go Bloodstock homebred filly MISS FABERGE looking to break her maiden status. The filly by Newgate sire Russian Revolution was unlucky last start when running behind horses and unable to get out into the clear until the closing stages of the race, finishing 4th behind She’s Extreme. Having come through the run well and her work to date has been good, she should appreciate the step up in distance and will have the services of Rachel King in the saddle coming out of gate 8. A positive performance here will see her continue on to the Group 1 Moet & Chandon Champagne Stakes on the 16th April at Randwick.
The stable Australian Derby hope SATIRICAL GLORY steps out in race 4 the Group 2 Tulloch Stakes over the 2000m. Last start the gelding by So You Think went around at Newcastle after his respective race was added to the card as a result of Kensington being abandoned due to the heavy rain that has recently seen a lot of meetings postponed or abandoned. Over the 1880m Satirical Glory finished in 4th after settling mid field during the run. Rory Hutchings in the saddle again and jumping from barrier 8 will be looking to keep the Derby path on track.
The Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes for the 3 year old fillies will see John saddle up two of the 15 runners both NZ fillies. The flashy GIN MARTINI first burst onto the racing scene in March last year when she flashed home behind Coastwatch to run 2nd on the Kensington track before then stepping out in the Group 3 Schweppervescence, again showing a fast finishing turn of foot when flashing home from last to 3rd with Regan Bayliss in the saddle. She has since gone on to record back to back wins along with a 3rd placing in her current preparation. Group 1 winning jockey Robbie Dolan jumps in the saddle and will be looking to keep the Oaks dream alive for Tricolours Racing and their syndicate of owners.
The second runner in the race is also from NZ – PINK IVORY for Gerry Harvey. The filly by Redwood first stamped herself as a Oaks prospect when she broke the maiden status at start number 2 at Gosford back in December. Her current preparation has seen her record a second behind talented Godolphin filly Tipitina before she turned the tables on the filly last start at Newcastle when recording her second career win. Pink Ivory will jump out of barrier 12 and will be ridden by Rory Hutchings, she will also be looking to keep the Oaks dream alive.
Good Luck to all connections associated with the runners and what will hopefully be a successful day for the team.
