Proisir/Vinevale Filly

An outstanding filly by Champion New Zealand Sire Proisir, out of the six-time winning Flying Spur mare Vinevale. Secured at the NZB Karaka Yearling Sale for NZ$130,000 from one of New Zealand’s premier nurseries, Trelawney Stud, she hails from a family that DGR’s Duncan Ramage knows all too well. Her dam is a half-sister to Australian Group and Listed winner Purple Sector, a horse that Duncan himself purchased from Trelawney Stud at this very sale in 2017.

Proisir continues to cement his status as one of the Southern Hemisphere’s most elite stallions, boasting an exceptional strike rate of just under 6% stakes winners to runners and has a proven record of producing top-class fillies/mares. His daughters include Champion Sprinter/Miler Levante, Champion 3YO Filly Legarto, Champion Middle Distance Horse Prowess, and triple Group 1 winner Waitak, among many others.

Notably, Proisir is the only stallion in New Zealand in recent years to dethrone Savabeel for Champion Sire honours, claiming the premiership in 2023, and he currently sits second on the General Sires List.

On the dam side, Vinevale was a tough and consistent race mare, recording six wins up to 1500 metres (including three in succession), and she has already produced a winning Per Incanto half-sister to this filly. This filly’s damsire, Flying Spur, needs little introduction as a hugely influential broodmare sire, with his daughters producing 117 individual stakes winners, including 17 Group 1 winners.

She will be trained by top Randwick horseman John Sargent, whose proven ability to develop elite Group 1–winning fillies and mares speaks for itself.
