Emeralds Confirmed in Foal

While the stable continues to prepare for a big weekend of racing in the hopes of picking up Group 1 glory in the Flight Stakes with either Four Moves Ahead or Left Reeling, we are also celebrating some very special news.

5 year old Sebring mare and older half sister to Four Moves Ahead – EMERALDS is confirmed in foal to champion race horse (possibly the best in the world) Frankel. The news was received from the office of Jonathan Munz’s Pinecliff Racing that the black type mare has had her 16 weeks scans which have confirmed the pregnancy.

Emeralds was initially offered at the 2018 Inglis Easter Yearling sale but when she failed to meet her reserve of $150,000 she was retained by Pinecliff racing and sent to John. The chestnut filly was first seen at the trials in October of 2018 before she made her racing debut in the Group 2 Sweet Embrace Stakes in March of 2019 where she finished down the field. She was then sent out for a break and returned to the race track at Newcastle in June.

At start number 3 she broke her maiden in strong style at Kembla over 1400m with Andrew Gibbons in the red and white silks. Later in the year she lined up in the Group 2 Tea Rose stakes and finished an impressive 4th behind the then top fillies in Funstar and Probabeel. Another of her career highlight wins was when she upset the front running Greysful Glamour in the Group 3 Angst Stakes at Randwick in October last year.

Emeralds raced 18 times, recording 3 wins and 4 minor placings.

After her run in the Group 1 Tatts Tiara, the decision was made to retire her and send her to the breeding barn. Many discussions were had to find a suitable mating partner for her, shortly after the decision was then made to send her to the Northern Hemisphere where she would meet the worlds best race horse in FRANKEL.

Frankel is a horse that needs no introduction in racing, he is a multiple Group performed winner around the world. Since retiring to stud he has continued on his winning ways, siring 19 Group 1 winners and is the leading sire in Europe by prizemoney.

Congratulations go to Pinecliff racing and we are excited to see the progeny of this mating plan.

Frankel
