Gauguin Clocks 3rd Victory

Gauguin

Yesterday the stable was represented with two runners at Canterbury and we returned with a victory and a 3rd placing.

Race 2- Maria Victoria ridden by Tim Clark: Resumed off the back of two good trials, she jumped well with the field and settled into 5th on the rail behind the leaders. On the turn and with 300m to the post Clark kept Maria Victoria on the inside of runners which saw her edge into 3rd position, the leading duo just getting away from her, she still found the line nicely and was only 2.5 lengths from the winner.

Race 5- Gauguin ridden by Hugh Bowman: Since his previous run Sarge had changed up his training and put Gauguin over the jumps educating him to settle and focus in his runs more. A gear change was also part of the changes applied to Gauguin saw Blinkers added (again to help him with focussing better in his runs). So we were on the way to hoping for a more positive showing from the horse and when the opportunity arose to enlist the services of the best in the business (domestically and on the world scale) we took that opportunity and had Hugh Bowman legged aboard. Drawn in barrier 4 and relaxed before the gates crashed open, Gauguin jumped nicely with the field and not too long after the start found the lead on the rails. Looking much more relaxed and focussed, into the straight and Gauguin continued to travel well before kicking away at the 150m to win by less than a length from a fast finishing Dreams of Paris.

Congratulations to all the connections involved with the horse and great ride by Hugh Bowman.

Watch Gauguin lead from start to finish notching up his 3rd win for his connections:
