Prince Camelot Salutes at Gosford

On the back of the heavy rain that Sydney has copped over the last few days, racing at Gosford was looking doubtful but luckily was able to proceed on heavy 9 conditions.

The team sent up two runners to represent, the fourth race of day (tab.com.au Benchmark 64 over 2100m) saw our promising stayer PRINCE CAMELOT step out.

Jumping from the widest gate, jockey Tyler Schiller settled the gelding by Camelot toward the rear of the field where the horse was comfortable. Approaching the 800m pole the duo began to creep closer with further encouragement coming at the 400m to ensure close enough to the leaders.

As the field swung for home, Prince Camelot was the widest runner but with clear running was able to grind through his gears and run down the leader on the post, recording his 2nd win for this preparation.

He will now head out for a 6 week break and will come back even more mature and stronger for his next preparation.

The other runner of the day stepped out in Race 6 a class 1 handicap over 1200m. Iffraaj gelding DOMINUS was second up since returning to the stable on the back of some pre-training at Hannover Lodge.

Partnered by Koby Jennings, the attractive gelding jumped and also settled toward the rear of the field before coming with a run before the home turn. Able to have clear running up the straight, he was able to continue with his run but just missed race honours.

Congratulations to connections of both horses on their performances yesterday.

Dominus
