Satirical Knight Shines at Gosford

The JSR team was well represented in both QLD and NSW on the weekend with two runners in QLD, one at Gosford and one at Randwick. From the four runners we netted two thirds, a fourth and more importantly a winner.

Gosford Race 1 saw the 3 year old gelding by Camelot- SATIRICAL KNIGHT finally break the maiden status at start number number 7. In his short career the horse has shown potential in both his work and his races, running 3rd in four of his starts.

Saturday John decided to step Satirical Knight up in distance to the mile (1600m) and Chad Lever booked to take the ride. Upon jumping he copped a few bumps but in true professionalism continued to settle in 5th on the rail, given a nice patient ride. The leaders pulled out and put distance on the rest of the field, around the 800m the horse set out after the leaders and pulled back the distance to sit just off them as the field swings for home. Shortly after straightening for home, Lever allows the gelding to go through his gears which saw him grind away and break the maiden status by under a length.

He is a promising 3 year old stayer and in his current prep has finished third twice and notched up a win from just 3 starts. John will now look to start him in town at Randwick in a few weeks time and up further in distance to the 1800m.

Congratulations to all the connections and staff associated with the horse.
